In the majestic heights of the Himalayas, Dharamshala emerges as an oasis of peace and spirituality, especially significant for Tibetan Buddhists and notably for the Dalai Lama. This mountain refuge transcends its picturesque setting, becoming an epicenter of the Tibetan diaspora and a beacon of hope for the preservation of its culture and traditions. For Tibetan Buddhists, Dharamshala represents more than just a city in the hills; it is a symbol of resistance and resilience. Following the exile of the Dalai Lama and many Tibetans, the region has become a place where Tibetan culture has flourished again despite adversity. The Dalai Lama has established his spiritual home in Dharamshala, making it a central point for the dissemination of Buddhist teachings and a refuge for the Tibetan community. The monasteries and temples that dot the landscape are silent witnesses to ceaseless prayers for peace and freedom. During my brief visit to Dharamshala, I sought to capture not only the visual images but also the aura of meaning and devotion that surrounds this sacred place. Each scene depicted in the photographs is a fragment of this spiritual narrative, an attempt to share the unique importance of Dharamshala for Tibetan Buddhists and for those who find inspiration in the mountains that embrace this spiritual sanctuary. Series produced with my beloved Nikon FE on 1 roll of chrome photographed on site for 4 days.
